Carpet to Red Oak Installed & Refinished

New red oak replaced carpet and was sanded, stained, and finished to coordinate with existing hardwood in the home.

The project

New floors that feel at home.

The goal was to replace carpet with red oak while keeping a consistent feel with hardwood already present in some rooms. The new installation was sanded and finished with those existing floors in mind.

A custom blend of 50% DuraSeal Golden Oak and 50% DuraSeal Golden Pecan brought warmth to the grain. Three coats of Berger-Seidle AquaSeal GreenStar completed the finish.

The process

From carpet to a coordinated finish.

Carpet removed

The carpeted areas were opened up for new red oak flooring.

Red oak installed

The new hardwood was installed with the adjoining rooms and existing flooring in mind.

Sanded & stained

The floors were sanded and stained with the custom Golden Oak and Golden Pecan blend.

Three finish coats

Three coats of Berger-Seidle AquaSeal GreenStar completed the flooring system.

Working with the existing hardwood.

Matching the new installation to some of the existing rooms was part of this project. The selected stain blend helped connect the new red oak with the wood already in the home.
