Historic Wide-Plank Floor Refinishing
Original wide-plank floors throughout this 1741 Weston home were sanded and refinished across approximately 4,266 square feet using Bona IntenseSeal and Berger-Seidle GreenStar Satin.
Refinishing the original wide-plank floors
The original wide-plank floors remained intact but had a worn, darkened finish. Both levels were sanded to remove the existing coating and expose the natural variation in the wood. Bona IntenseSeal was followed by two coats of Berger-Seidle GreenStar in satin.
Before and after refinishing
Each comparison shows the same room before refinishing and after the new sealer and satin finish were applied.
Refinishing process
The work was planned as one coordinated refinishing project across both levels of the home.

The wide planks, worn finish, transitions, and areas needing additional preparation were reviewed throughout the home.

Upstairs and downstairs work areas were organized so the complete refinishing scope could move through the home efficiently.

The floors were sanded to reveal the intact original wood while preserving the natural variation and evidence of age.
Sealed & finished
Bona IntenseSeal was followed by two coats of Berger-Seidle GreenStar in satin for the selected satin finish.
