What homeowners are saying

“I'd highly recommend John to install or refinish hardwood floors. He installed new flooring in several bedrooms and refinished the hallway to match and I am very happy with the finished product and he was great to work with throughout the process.”

Questions from homeowners

Questions about work in your home

Can we keep the original floor even if a few boards are badly worn?

We’ll look at the worn boards separately from the rest of the floor. Replacing the damaged boards may allow boards in good condition to remain. Remaining thickness and earlier sanding help determine whether the whole surface can then be refinished.

Can new flooring in an addition match the older, narrower boards?

We’ll compare width, thickness, species, and direction before ordering the new flooring. Where a close match is practical, we plan the connection accordingly. Otherwise, a planned transition can work better than a mismatched patch.

Do we need to refinish the hallway if only one bedroom is scratched?

We’ll check how deep the scratches are and whether the doorway creates a natural stopping point. Work may be limited to the bedroom, although the renewed finish can look different beside the older hallway.

Can an old repair that looks like a different color be corrected?

We’ll first check whether the difference comes from the finish, the species, or replacement boards. Refinishing may improve a color mismatch. If the replacement boards aren’t suitable, replacing the patch may give a more consistent result.
