Our Woodville house has a tight stair to the bedrooms. Can you still assess the floors upstairs?
We’ll start with photos and measurements of the stairs, turns, and doorway, then confirm the equipment route during assessment. The room’s size and access can affect the method and schedule. We’ll check the floor itself before committing to refinishing, so an access plan is developed alongside a realistic plan for your floors.
The old kitchen threshold is much thicker than the boards beside it. Should it come out?
We’ll measure the surfaces on both sides and check what the threshold is covering before recommending removal. It may conceal a height change, missing flooring, or a previous alteration. A lower transition may be possible, but we explain the necessary repair and door clearances rather than assuming the piece is purely decorative.
Can we keep the front rooms and install hardwood only in a later rear room?
We’ll check the existing flooring at the connection and assess the rear room’s subfloor and moisture conditions. New hardwood can be planned as a separate area, with its height and direction considered from the start. We’ll explain whether a threshold is useful and how the new finish may differ from the rooms you’re keeping.
Nail heads are showing in the upstairs floor. Can it still be sanded?
Visible fasteners can indicate limited remaining wood, but we inspect the surrounding boards and accessible edges before drawing a conclusion. Some areas may need repair; others may not be suitable for further sanding. The recommendation depends on the actual flooring condition, not simply the age of the house or the desired color.
