Questions from homeowners

Questions about work in your home

Our mid-century home has a concrete floor beneath the old covering. Can we install hardwood?

We’ll check the slab’s condition and moisture, the available height, and the flooring manufacturer’s requirements. The right product and installation method depend on that assessment. We do not assume the same approach used over a wood subfloor will work.

What if there is radiant heat under the floor?

Tell us before a product or installation method is selected. We need to understand the heating system and confirm the flooring is approved for it. Moisture conditions and the manufacturer’s temperature limits also guide the work.

Can the older part of the house and the addition be made to look more consistent?

We’ll compare the species, board widths, direction, height, and finish in both areas. A shared color may help, but construction differences can call for a transition or selected replacement. We’ll explain the options before sanding or ordering wood.

The wood is faded near the big windows. Will refinishing even it out?

We’ll look at whether the difference is in the coating or the wood itself. Sanding and refinishing can improve uneven appearance, but deep color changes may remain. Sun exposure can also change the color again over time.
