YOUR FLOORS, YOUR WAY

Make every room feel like part of the same home.

If the floors change from room to room, your home can feel less connected than you’d like. We’ll look at what you want to keep and which rooms you’re updating, then help you plan the transitions. Repairs and color samples on your floors can help you see what a more coordinated look might involve.

Questions from homeowners

Questions about work in your home

Can we keep the original floors in our older house even if some boards are damaged?

We’ll look at the damaged boards separately from the surrounding floor. Remaining thickness, previous sanding, and old repairs determine what can be kept. A focused board repair may preserve much of the original flooring without replacing the whole room.

Our renovation joins rooms with different wood floors. Can they look more consistent?

We’ll compare the species, board widths, direction, and floor heights before planning the connection. Refinishing the rooms together may help with color and sheen, but it will not hide differences in grain or board size. We’ll explain when a transition or selected replacement would work better.

What should we check before installing hardwood in a mid-century house?

We first establish what is beneath the existing floor rather than assuming a standard wood subfloor. Slab moisture, floor heights, and any underfloor heating affect the product and installation method. If radiant heat is present, the flooring must be suitable for that system.

Can a dark patch near an old radiator be repaired without replacing the whole floor?

We’ll check whether the moisture source has been resolved, then assess stain depth and board condition. Surface discoloration may improve with refinishing, while deeply affected boards may need replacement. The surrounding floor may also need refinishing to blend the repair.
