Replacing carpet or extending hardwood can help your home feel more connected. In our Wellesley red oak project, we installed new flooring and coordinated its color with the existing rooms. For your home, we’ll compare flooring types, board widths, and transitions, then use finish samples to help you see how it can all work together.

Can new hardwood replace carpet and still work with the wood in the other rooms?
Yes, we assess the existing species, board dimensions, direction, and height before planning the installation. Our Wellesley carpet-to-red-oak project involved coordinating new flooring with existing rooms. Your floor’s condition will determine the best approach.
Our older floors have been sanded before. Can they be refinished again?
We’ll look at the individual floor rather than relying on the home’s age. Remaining thickness, earlier sanding, loose boards, and old repairs help determine whether refinishing is suitable or whether some sections need replacement.
Will the new boards take stain differently from the old ones?
They can. Species, age, and previous exposure all affect color. We sample the finish on the floor and discuss the difference you can expect before you choose the final color.
Can we repair one damaged room and keep the rest of the floor?
Often, but we check where the flooring connects and whether there is a natural stopping point. A focused board repair may preserve the rest, while finishing a wider area can help the result look more consistent.
